A passion for the outdoors

My name is Bauke ten Brinke, and I’m based in Amsterdam. I’m passionate about outdoor sports and spending time in the mountains. Whether it’s (tour)skiing, trail running, or mountain biking, I thrive on adventure and love the natural world. While the Netherlands doesn’t offer mountains, I make the most of running, rowing and road biking. My love for the outdoors drives my concern for climate change, as I’ve seen firsthand the glaciers and snowfields in the Alps retreat over the years. It’s this connection to nature that fuels my ambition to protect the environment and preserve the sports and landscapes I cherish.

Professional experience and expertise

With a background in economics (BSc) and sustainable development (MSc), I’ve spent my career at the intersection of financial and non-financial data, risk management, and climate change. When the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) guidance was first released, I was one of the first to dive into the application of climate-related scenario analysis, eventually co-authoring a paper (link) on using climate scenarios for strategic and risk management purposes. I’ve applied this experience across the (bio)chemical industry and consulting sectors, enabling them to become more resilient in an uncertain future.

I now help businesses address the complexities of climate risk through scenario planning and support companies in meeting the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), as well as reporting against the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
